We discovered Funky Chicken about a year ago, through a recommendation of friends of ours. It is a shop that specialises in Vintage gifts. So not just new & used vinyl and cds, but jukeboxes, retro clothing, furniture, toys, memorabilia, comics, band t-shirts and lots more.
This is a massive bonus to me, as my wife is a lot more enthusiastic about a visit to Funky Chicken than a regular record shop. This means my wife can enjoy looking at and buying clothes, whilst I rummage through the vinyl.
There is music of every genre and clothes for almost every tribe, Goth's, Punks, Northern Soul enthusiasts and 50's & 60's fans.
We took my step Dad in, who is a big fan of Northern Soul and he absolutely loved the place.
It is run by a very nice couple, who always take time to have a chat and they are very knowledgeable about the stuff they sell.
The shop is unique in many ways and a good place to buy a gift for cool, quirky friends.
As well as the new & used vinyl albums, there is a large selection of vinyl singles. It has a great selection of 45's, very cool stuff and they do a great trade in original jukeboxes.
Now and then they seem to have some great Sci Fi collectables, I recently noticed they were selling an impressive collection of Doctor Who figures as well as life size cardboard cut outs of Harley Quinn & David Tennant.
If you fancy paying Funky Chicken a visit, it is worth giving their Facebook page a like, as it is updated with pictures of new stock on a very regular basis.
